In addition to that, the initial KDE4.0 was nowhere near as terrible as 
Gnome3.0 was and Gnome 3.2 still is. It had a proper shutdown button in the 
menu, to begin with. And the windows could be minimized. And you could see all 
active applications listed in the taskbar. And... well, you get the picture... 
;-)
