Which CD?

An Audio CD doesn't contain RIFF/WAV files, but PCM samples in a specific
format. Hence it needs a decoder for audio input files when creating an
Audio CD. If you create an Audio CD from MP3 files, they are converted to
PCM when writing the CD.

If you want to keep the MP3 format, you can only create a _Data CD_ that
contains the MP3 files. Various CD players can handle such MP3-CDs, but
they are rejected by any "standard cd player" that only supports Audio
CDs.
