Replying, erasing the subject line and message body of another message is not creating a new message. Because you didn't do this, your message is buried in the middle of another thread. Threading is done be other message headers (in-reply-to and references), which associate together messages that are supposed to be joined together, irrespective of subject line. Some people will not see yours, because they're ignoring this thread. Some people will refuse to reply because you're hijacking that thread. Perhaps those people have your answer.
