Thanks. "mplayer /usr/share/sounds/KDE-Sys-App-Message.ogg" works fine. It is the only one of these 5 programs that actually works on my laptop: play does not seem to exist; aplay makes a rather annoying noise, which I have seen described as static; paplay just hangs without doing anything; ogg123 does not seem to exist on my Fedora-12/KDE system; -- Timothy Murphy e-mail: gayleard /at/ eircom.net tel: +353-86-2336090, +353-1-2842366 s-mail: School of Mathematics, Trinity College, Dublin 2, Ireland -- users mailing list users@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe or change subscription options: https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/users Guidelines: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Communicate/MailingListGuidelines
