Got the CDROM out of creation. /etc/udev/rules.d/55-umts.rules:

But right-buttom clicking on 
Network Manager->edit connections->mobile broadband shows still no
entries, and creation in System->Network->devices->new->modem fails
(no modem found). Any further hints?
