Is the dhcp system busted here? Or am I nuts?

It is possible that the F10 default install includes draconian
firewall rules (I'm not really sure, but they seem to be trying
to be fanatically secure at every turn).

You could diable iptables and ip6tables and see if your dhcp
server can find you, if so, there is something about the firewall
rules that blocks it.

Getting an IP address through DHCP should "just work" as long as you set
up that network interface for it. I use Fedora 10 also, and I have a
separate DHCP server, and all works fine out of the box...well, out of
the DVD, so to speak.

I have my dhcp server set up to offer certain hosts specific IP
addresses, based on the MAC address of the adapter. Could that be your
problem here -- you are giving dhcp an MAC address it does not recognize.

Shouldn't be a problem with the DHCP server, as that server worked
with this hardware running F8, a laptop, and two other desktops
running various systems. There is something funny going on here,
and I'd like to get it working, if not actually find out what
is the problem.
