You should not need a channel number.

If you are going to use peerdns, you do not need to specify the DNS 
servers. You should only need one anyway.

Because you are not using Network Manager to control the interface, 
it does not matter what desktop you are using.

With the minor changes I pointed to above, it should work. The only 
thing that may have to change is to tell the 3945 driver that it 
should use the India wireless frequency map instead of the U.S.A. 
map that I believe it uses by default. But I don't know how to do 
that off hand. Hopefully, someone that does will jump in here. If 
not, I will see what I can find when I have time.
