While I like the Windows-like layout,
the individual settings, eg Desktop, seem much feebler than before.

Actually, I find a lot of the settings in KDE-4 very strange.
It is as though a completely new set of people developed KDE-4
without ever looking at KDE-3.
Many of the options that used to be offered
seem to have disappeared, for no apparent reason.

Thanks for the suggestion,
but I didn't find anything relevant to my (minor) problem,
that while some choices, eg Konsole in Desktop 2, persist through re-boots,
others, eg Konsole in Desktop 1, do not.
