The issue (from VMware forums) is a problem with Workstation 6.0.2 not liking to co-exist with KVM/Qemu on F8. Options are to either remove the Virtualization option from F8 via Add / Remove Software or to downgrade to Workstation 6.0.1. I tried it both ways and both work. I wound up sticking with not using KVM and running 6.0.2 for now. Hopefully a 6.0.3 update will fix this so they will live side by side again.
