No, he won't be unless he likes proprietary crap, which means: tainted kernels, 
fighting with kmod packages (or worse, unpackaged installer scripts which 
overwrite system libraries like libGL!), violating the Linux kernel's GPL 
license, compatibility problems each time a new version of X.Org comes out (and 
sometimes for new kernels too, e.g. when they moved to 4k stacks) etc. And that 
assumes the driver actually works, if it doesn't, he's on his own, as nobody 
except NVidia can fix it and they're usually not in a hurry.

The ATI models I recommended all work with Free drivers which are included in 
Fedora itself (as well as in the upstream Linux and X.Org X11 projects).

ATI's proprietary fglrx driver sucks even more than NVidia's proprietary 
driver, but the Free radeon driver doesn't! So just make sure you get a model 
supported by the Free driver and you'll be OK.
