I have no problems with it here. Are you saying that if you hit <Ctrl>-<Alt>-<F1> that you get a blank screen or something? If that is the case, along with the other problems you are having, you may want to check your hardware, especially the digital cable. You may also want to take a look at /etc/grub/grub.conf, and see if you are setting a video mode that the monitor does not like... Also, are you using the frame buffer mode for virtual consoles, or one of the video card's text modes?
