This depends on your modem.  With mine, ISP username and passswords are
set into the modem/router, and I do nothing on my computers as far as
credentials are concerned.  It's all part of the LAN.

If you have just a plain modem, or a modem configured in a bridge mode,
then it's just the interface between line and computer, and the logon
credentials are done on the computer.

Tell us what you use for your modem (brand, model, operating modes).
