This depends on your modem. With mine, ISP username and passswords are set into the modem/router, and I do nothing on my computers as far as credentials are concerned. It's all part of the LAN. If you have just a plain modem, or a modem configured in a bridge mode, then it's just the interface between line and computer, and the logon credentials are done on the computer.
