How did you install php?  If you used the FC RPMs, you have
/etc/httpd/conf.d/php.conf that does the above plus

 	AddHandler php5-script .php

and

 	DirectoryIndex index.php

Yes I have that conf file and the phpMyAdmin.conf file which restricts things to localhost.

That is why I am so lost. I have gone through the install setup numerous times but without any joy..
