Disable Java, try again. Next, try it without JavaScript, instead. Next, try without CSS, instead. Those three, in particular, are the most likely ones to be a drag with *SOME* websites. AnimGIFs and Flash are other pains. How's it behave on simpler sites? e.g. The Google search page, it's moderately simple.
