Of course as Alan mentioned, you can find the pci ids and > add them to the xorg.conf file with information you get from lspci > regarding the video card IDs. I have installed in text mode, and it runs fine in text mode. Using the command line output is sent to the monitor on the pci card - so it seems to have recognised that one is installed and uses that. However running system-config-display locks up, and looking at xorg.conf seems to indicate this is set to the onboard video card. Here is the output of lspci, and my xorg.conf. Can you indicate how I should change the xorg.conf. The ATI is the pci card I want to use, and the Matrox is the onboard one I don't want. 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation 440LX/EX - 82443LX/EX Host bridge (rev 03) Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 64 Memory at f8000000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=64M] Capabilities: [a0] AGP version 1.0 00: 86 80 80 71 06 01 90 22 03 00 00 06 00 40 00 00 10: 08 00 00 f8 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 20: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 30: 00 00 00 00 a0 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00:01.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 440LX/EX - 82443LX/EX AGP bridge (rev 03) (prog-if 00 [Normal decode]) Flags: bus master, 66MHz, medium devsel, latency 64 Bus: primary=00, secondary=01, subordinate=01, sec-latency=64 Memory behind bridge: fc000000-fcffffff Prefetchable memory behind bridge: f6000000-f6ffffff 00: 86 80 81 71 06 00 a0 02 03 00 04 06 00 40 01 00 10: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 01 40 f0 00 a0 22 20: 00 fc f0 fc 00 f6 f0 f6 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 30: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00:07.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation 82371AB/EB/MB PIIX4 ISA (rev 02) Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 0 00: 86 80 10 71 0f 00 80 02 02 00 01 06 00 00 80 00 10: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 20: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 30: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00:07.1 IDE interface: Intel Corporation 82371AB/EB/MB PIIX4 IDE (rev 01) (prog-if 80 [Master]) Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 64 I/O ports at fcf0 [size=16] 00: 86 80 11 71 05 00 80 02 01 80 01 01 00 40 00 00 10: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 20: f1 fc 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 30: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00:07.2 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82371AB/EB/MB PIIX4 USB (rev 01) (prog-if 00 [UHCI]) Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 64, IRQ 10 I/O ports at fc60 [size=32] 00: 86 80 12 71 05 00 80 02 01 00 03 0c 00 40 00 00 10: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 20: 61 fc 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 30: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ff 04 00 00 00:07.3 Bridge: Intel Corporation 82371AB/EB/MB PIIX4 ACPI (rev 02) Flags: medium devsel, IRQ 9 00: 86 80 13 71 03 00 80 02 02 00 80 06 00 00 00 00 10: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 20: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 30: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00:10.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc 3D Rage I/II 215GT [Mach64 GT] (rev 41) (prog-if 00 [VGA]) Subsystem: ATI Technologies Inc 3D Rage I/II 215GT [Mach64 GT] Flags: stepping, medium devsel, IRQ 9 Memory at fd000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16M] I/O ports at f800 [size=256] Memory at fedff000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=4K] [virtual] Expansion ROM at 10040000 [disabled] [size=128K] 00: 02 10 54 47 83 00 80 02 41 00 00 03 08 42 00 00 10: 00 00 00 fd 01 f8 00 00 00 f0 df fe 00 00 00 00 20: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 02 10 54 47 30: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 09 01 08 00 00:12.0 Ethernet controller: Lite-On Communications Inc LNE100TX (rev 20) Subsystem: Netgear FA310TX Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 64, IRQ 11 I/O ports at f400 [size=256] Memory at fedfec00 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=256] [virtual] Expansion ROM at 10000000 [disabled] [size=256K] 00: ad 11 02 00 07 00 80 02 20 00 00 02 00 40 00 00 10: 01 f4 00 00 00 ec df fe 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 20: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 85 13 04 f0 30: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ff 01 00 00 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Matrox Graphics, Inc.
