OpenOffice may be a bit of a stretch. (though once it loads, even with
256MB, it works OK).
I'd use konqueror (KDE) or Epiphany (GNOME) instead of firefox (both eat
less memory, especially konq).

Other then that, you have a fully functional, extremely cheap laptop.
