kernel-2.6.18-1.2200.fc5: annoying messages in /var/log/messages

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hello world,

Under kernel-2.6.18-1.2200.fc5 every 5 seconds the following messages are written into /var/log/messages:

Oct 18 20:39:18 laptop kernel: printk: 4 messages suppressed.
Oct 18 20:39:18 laptop kernel: SoftMAC: ASSERTION FAILED (0) at: net/ieee80211/softmac/ieee80211softmac_wx.c:306:ieee80211softmac_wx_get_rate()

The machine is a Dell Latitude D600 laptop. WLAN is not active, IP connection over RJ45 cable. Regardless of these messages connectivity is o.k. and the machine appears to work fine. Also, under kernel 2.6.17-1.2187 and earlier these messages don't appear.

Any ideas? Thanks for your help,
      --Georg
