I doubt it's the monitor. I've used multiple monitors and changed
resolutions to see if that was the issue. All to no avail...

I had a similar issue with a nvidia FX5200 AGP card. I looked for answers at nvnews.net forums. In my case, I believe that there was a bug in my BOIS perhaps that is exposed by later versions of the nvidia drivers. I have a Dell 400sc, which is a server machine. Dell says the AGP slot on this box is "not supported". I bought a PCI FX5200 and the problem is gone.
I suggest you update your BIOS to the latest available version first. If the problem still exists, try to set the AGP speed to 4x or 2x in your BIOS. Not all BIOSs allow you to do this. You could also try compiling the nvidia drivers to use AGP 4x or 2x. I can't remember exactly how to do this, but if you search the forum at
nvnews.net you should be able to figure it out.
