Alas! even with the groupinstall done, my new user gets a fine gnome
desktop --but I as btth do not.
Some bit of saved state is preventing Gnome from starting. Log in
on a VT and move the .gconf* .gnome* and .metacity directories
from ~/btth to some out of the way place and then see if Gnome
will start for you.
