I was always happy with the ROM drives, and the floppy being in /etc/fstab on FC4 and earlier vesions of FC. Anyway I've at least got access to the floppy again by recreating the entry in /etc/fstab . This way you can use Kdiskfree to mount, then open in file manager the floppy disc. Method: su to root on the CLI. type, mkdir /media/floppy Next, open a text editor, kwrite ,gedit,or your choice. Go to /etc/fstab , and add a new line as below. /dev/fd0 /media/floppy auto noauto,owner,kudzu 0 0 You can probably miss out the kudzu bit, as I copied it from FC2. Anyway, it works ok with FC5, and using Kdiskfree, I can mount, and open floppies in a file manager. It's a bugger when they keep changing the goalposts eh!
