I spent about three months away from FC while I was trying out Kubuntu. While I found Kubuntu to be very easy to use, I was constantly running into roadblocks installing software or configuring the system how I like it. So I decided to install FC5 this week. After a long fight with three harddrives, a brand new DVD burner, and faulty internet connection, I almost gave up on even downloading the huge distro that FC is and considered just updating to the newest [k]Ubuntu. But I stuck with it, and I'm glad that I did. I love yum, I love KDE, and I like having the latest stable software. After using KDE 3.5.4 on FC4 going back to 3.5 was like a smack on the back of the neck in Kubuntu. Also, I love the bit of humour that I've been finding: [user@localhost ~]$ sudo konqueror We trust you have received the usual lecture from the local System Administrator. It usually boils down to these three things: #1) Respect the privacy of others. #2) Think before you type. #3) With great power comes great responsibility. Password: user is not in the sudoers file. This incident will be reported. I know that this isn't the devel list, but I do have one suggestion: Less disks. At least get the base system onto a single 700 MB disc. I really almost had to stay with Kubuntu (which isn't a bad distro) because of the massive download. So I say thanks to everyone who works on Fedora, the RH guys and the private developers. And everybody on this list and on various forums.
