Something related to this (mentioned on FAB-list 24 hours ago, but didn't get any replies) to fix the problem in F8 and later:

Why don't we just expand the disttag to something else without the
"fc<I>n</I>" in it in the devel branch? Then we don't have run into the "package disttag doesn't match the release it is shipped in" problem when a package is not rebuild during a devel cycle. A simple ".1" maybe -- that should make everybody happy afaics:

How would a mixture of .1 and .fc6 in the released fc7 make everybody
happier than a mixture of .1 and .fc7 ?

"to fix the problem in F8 and later" -- IOW: I think this change should be done after F7 was branched, to make this problem go away over time. For FC7 I think it's far to late for changes like this or mass-rebuilds to get rid of the fc6 in the devel branch.

Or does the proposal include a mass rebuild on day zero to replace all .1 by .fc7 ?

You mean rebuild everything in devel after F7 is out? Could be done if we want to, but I suppose its not worth the trouble: the problem will vanish on it's own mostly by F8; maybe we'll do a mass rebuild for F8 anyway if the toolchain should change.

OIOW: I'd say we simply change to what the distttag expands right after F7 was branched, and then look at the repos by F8-test1 or test2 and decide then what to do.
