I'm thinking of writing a draft guideline for the packaging committee to mandate all filenames be in utf-8.
As a side note: many users (including yours truly) really want to migrate their $HOME recursively from ISO8859-1 etc to UTF-8. Has anyone seen a good tool for this? I've written small scripts myself but never seen a program to do it. The problem grows worse when you keep legacy files on NFS shares and the like.
(I guess all the Swedes, German, French and Spanish with a legacy of files in $HOME have the same problem as me...)
