Well, the argument that emacs-nox has a benefit over emacs -nw may have some
merit on a system-wide basis, but is almost zero on a per-user basis. The
script should clearly prefer the X version if available, because then it's
easy to set a per-user preference via `alias emacs='emacs -nw'`. 

I don't think introducing a Fedora-specific environment variable really
helps anything.
