I have seen some communities use a combination of Slack and Discourse. As you said, Discourse is great in organizing and accessing posts. The current workflow for the magazine seems a bit overkill to me, but with discourse, I think the stuff would be done faster, as a central place to discuss the proposals and track the progress. - mehdi
