My bad for the inadequately described pitch. Often, using regular chromium for watching online videos is very power consuming, especially on popular websites like Youtube. This is usually a major issue for battery powered devices like a regular laptop or a raspberry pi etc. This is where chromium-vaapi comes into play, it is a chromium browser with GPU hardware acceleration patches ( disabled by default of course ) which enable the browser to use system hardware to decode the video in a better and more power efficient way. Also, this enables 4K video capabilty in supported devices. I am concentrating on this specific package even tho there are a ton of other web browsers that do the same because in my honest opinion, I think there are a boat load of people who'd rather use the regular chromium than opt for something else. This package offers them just the same but with better power efficiency which could be a boon for older devices with a weak battery. I could change my article to suit the requirements of Fedora Magazine if there's any issue. _______________________________________________ Fedora Magazine mailing list -- magazine@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe send an email to magazine-leave@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Fedora Code of Conduct: https://getfedora.org/code-of-conduct.html List Guidelines: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines List Archives: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/magazine@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
