Hi Justin,

sorry for the late reply, I was on vacation. Thanks for your willingness to help, which I'd like to take advantage of :)

Do you think you could reach out to some mentors you know? If you happen to know anyone from JBoss or vert.x as well, that'd be great, but even reaching out just to Fedora mentors/students will be a big help. If you don't have time, a list of names/emails will do.

I'm thinking to ask the mentors:

1) Why did you become a mentor? 2) What did you get out of the experience? 3) Who would you recommend it for (which projects/people)?

For participants:

1) Why did you want to participate? 2) Why did you choose project xyz? 3) How was the experience? 4) What is next for you?

Thanks a lot Justin! :-)

Hey Natalie,

No problem! You should be able to find a lot of information with regards to this summer's GSoC program here:

    https://summerofcode.withgoogle.com/organizations/5630777857409024/

The mentors I am aware of are:

* dperpeet, dperpeet@xxxxxxxxxx
* Patrick Uiterwijk, puiterwijk@xxxxxxxxxx
* Giuseppe Scrivano, gscrivan@xxxxxxxxxx
* Pierre-Yves Chibon, pingou@xxxxxxxxxxxx
* Bee Padalkar, bhagyashree.iitg@xxxxxxxxx

All of the participant info should be able to be found on the Google page (if not, let me know and I can help find emails).

Hope this is all helpful to you. :)

Hez guys,

what do you think about an article about Fedora activities in Google Summer of Code? That would sure give it a good ring?

Maybe talk to the mentors and students, ask them for their experience, what it gave them, etc?

I think there could be one version for the Magazine and another for the blog, the blog one being more technical and tagged with relevant groups.

What do you think? I would volunteer for writing this, with glad acceptance of anyone's help :)

Hi Natalie! Yes, I think an article covering Fedora's involvement with
Google Summer of Code would be an *excellent* topic to cover. There are
plenty of mentors and students from this cycle who I'm sure would be
happy to provide some feedback.

Thumbs-up from me for having a Magazine and CommBlog edition. If you
need any help or pointers, feel free to ask and I can drop some emails
and links for mentors, students, and projects from this summer. I was
one of the students for GSoC this year and would also be happy to help
in any regard to that.

Thanks!
