apache / patent / jbig2enc

Hello,

following up on an exchange at
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2058336

I wonder whether anybody on this list feels able to comment on the legal possibility to generate a jbig2enc package for fedora.

The license seems to be apache 2.0
https://github.com/agl/jbig2enc/blob/master/COPYING

However, people are concerned that they do not know whether somewhere a patent exists -
https://github.com/agl/jbig2enc/issues/58

Any thoughts on how to think about this?

Cheers,
Ingmar
