So, Just for grins, I tryed the YUM after I tried the Apt, guess what, it worked. I'm guessing when I saw APT tell me that it needed more KEYS and did the download for them, that it also took care of the problem with the YUM Keys also.. Just a guess mind you... But now YUM ran just fine and according to it, all the RPMS are updated. Now for the next whacked out question, APT didn't agree with YUM on what needed to be upgraded or updated, any ideas for that problem? YUM didn't have a problem at all with the K#B or anything else installed.... Do the 2 check the same repository? Is there ANY Syncing between them? Or am I the only one who has had this problem to date? Thanks again for the help given btw..;-) Tim (Included for completeness of Thread - this email was rejected by Peters server for the reason of user unknown..lol) Okay, I read your message...;-) I use the terminal, login with su -, get the prompts and stuff... Now for the weird question... GPG environment?? lol Reestablish the environment? How would I go about checking it to be sure its right in the first place? I tried the apt and it wants to un-install the latest of K3B and and memencoder.... I like the K3B and have moved away from even using Winders for CD Burning, K3B makes it very easy... so... I'm at a stand still right this sec...How can I check to be sure I even have the right key installed? BTW... Apt didn't have a single problem with the "KEY"s that YUM had Tim (Thanks Peter) On Aug 27, 2004, at 8:11 AM, Timothy Beck wrote: > No other ideas from anyone? Well, I went through h*ll with this including several list messages (folks here were helpful). In my case, it was my environment. You can't 'sudo -s' to get this work done; you need to be root. 'su - root' worked here or you could log in as root. You will also have to reestablish your GPG environment as root. (Thanks S. Joseph) apt-get works great for me on RH9 On Thu, 2004-08-26 at 17:58, Juri Haberland wrote: > Timothy Beck wrote: > > Alright, I give..;-) > > I installed YUM per instruction on the website, > > http://www.fedoralegacy.org/docs/yum-rh9.php > > > Error: Could not find the GPG Key necessary to validate pkg > > Did you follow step 2.2 in the referenced document? > > Juri > > > -- > > fedora-legacy-list@xxxxxxxxxx > http://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-legacy-list -- Timothy Beck <tbeck@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> -- fedora-legacy-list@xxxxxxxxxx http://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-legacy-list
