Install the latest kernel errata (latest published release is
2.4.20-30.8.legacy, unofficial candidates for some further security
fixes at <https://bugzilla.fedora.us/show_bug.cgi?id=1484>)

Either is likely to fix your problem. Both the 2.4.18 and 2.4.20 RPMs
have e1000 support, but the latest 2.4.20 errata has a better chance of
recognising your specific revision (I'm assuming here that you have
tried to modprobe e1000 already).
