Trouble...trouble...trouble...

hi,

YES,  - I should probably check this list archives first - but I have checked everywhere, so - I dive right into it:

Computer:   Compaq Pressario V6000  ( actually bought a HP, but was given
this as replacement )

1. Current status:

- Fedora7_x64 will not boot up after install.  Kernel panic, can't access resume
device ( /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol01).
Then setroot fails:  can't find /dev/root
can't mount /dev ../proc.. /sys.....
Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init !
Kernel alive.
(  have not been able to figure out the cause when trying to boot up rescue mode)

2.  Previous  attempts:
- boots up and run OpenSuse _x64
- boots up and fun Fedora7_i386 with some trouble - it will freeze up. but hitting
power off button some seconds,  get it continue up the bootup process.
- did boot up with Fedora7_64 with ZEN....
( but I would like to have it running  Fedora7_64 ... so I am back attempting
doing that )

3.  Confused:
- I don't know what did happen,  but perhaps it was with ZEN?  I wonder if it
did communicate wireless ?  Else this is the real obstacle.  I can't bring up the wireless ethernet.  ( the reason for a new purchase of hardware )

- Not sure about this, but... I did shrink the disk under Windows Vista, and installed Fedora7_64,  and  believe  I  had  it  running  -  except  the  problems
with wireless, and some other settings.  The trouble told at section 1 above,
did seem to happen when I tried to repeat the install ?

Any suggestions ???
