We did this with another out-of-tree patchset a while ago to support
ACPI and UEFI on Aarch64 before that was upstream.  The maintainer of
that patchset did a great job and I think it worked well enough.  As I
said earlier, I don't have a say in the decision but if similar
efforts are in place for these drivers then it could be successful.
