Hi,

I just installed f7 on a new box. When I tried to boot it after install I got
the following error:

MP-BIOS bug: 8254 Timer not connected to IO-APIC

Kernel Panic Not syncing: IO-APIC + Timer doesn't work! Try using the noapic
kernel parameter.

Hi,

I'm not sure if this will be helpful, but with HP machines they added a BIOS option called the "Linux HPET Option" that works around this issue. It could be that Lenovo has something similar. You can read about how HP handled this here:

"...these messages occur because the kernel ignores the ACPI timer override for the system timer..."

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=c00781084

I don't know if this is considered an OS bug per-se.

Passing nooapic to the kernel at boot lets the machine boot.

There are no BIOS updates available for the box.

Is this something I should put into bugzilla or is simply expected on some
machines?

[root@tigger2 pts0 ~]# uname -r

The box is a Lenovo MTM7387-24U
