Have you checked if the nvidia audio device (probably the HDMI link) has become the default audio device? That's likely the reason. If so, you can simply change the default playback device to the other audio controller and everything should be fine. You can see the audio devices either from the speaker icon on the task bar or from system settings
I did check and the "System Settings --> Sound" shows the active playback device as 'Speakers" with the profile set to "Analog Stereo Duplex"
switching to the other available profiles such as "Analog Stereo Output" or "Pro Audio" has no affect
