What this does is provide a small shell wrapper which sets an environment variable - MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 - and then invokes the main firefox program. I have replaced the standard firefox panel shortcut with the one from the firefox-wayland package (it looks exactly the same). This works fine. If I click on the icon 3 or 4 times, then I get 3 or 4 items appearing in the task manager. If I click on the standard firefox package shortcut 3 or 4 times then I get 1, maybe 2, items appearing in the task manager. I then have to use alt-tab to switch between the different browser windows.
