KDE on QEMU/KVM v.s. GNOME

If I install GNOME from the LiveDVD and then run it under QEMU/KVM the
login and user displays will automatically resize as I expand/contract
the VM's window.

I cannot find a way for KDE to behave in a similar fashion. I can login
and then select a larger display size to get near to what I would want.
However, it would be nice to have it resize automatically and
arbitrarily as GNOME is doing.

>From what I could gather spice-vdagent is supposed to interact with the
desktop to allow this. One bugzilla that I found had a comment which
put it this way...

spice-vdagent used to be doing something like this, but this was racing
with desktop environments keeping track of the current
resolution/monitors/.., so we are now informing the desktop environment
that a resolution change would be desirable, and let it handle it.

So, is this plasma5 just deciding not to allow auto/arbitrary resizing?
