Can anybody confirm that spell checking works for them in Fedora 24 in
apps such as kwrite? I can not get spell checking to work, even on the
LiveCD.

First time I try Tools -> Spelling -> Spelling nothing happens. The
second and any time after results in a pop up that just says "Check
Spelling" with an OK button.

The second time, actually there's something happening. There seems to be
some result of the spell check displayed on the status bar. But it's
behind the normal stuff on the status bar (like line number, encoding,
highlighting options etc.) and there's no way to interact with the spell
check results.

I have found that if I go to System Settings -> Regional Settings -> Spell Check and then enable "Automatic spell checking enabled by default" things work a bit better. Had to restart kwrite after making the change.
