I had all those problems too, but with xorg-x11-drv-intel-2.99.917-21.20160119.fc24.x86_64 things are looking good.

FWIW, killing kscreenlocker-kgreet (and occasionally also killing and restarting kwin_x11 and plasmashell) was sufficient to recover the system, without losing any work.

The one thing which still causes trouble is switching from laptop screen to two external monitors. But I suspect this is Qt still not having all its multiscreen issues sorted out.
