Thank you for your comprehensive reply.
I've turned off Baloo for KMail.
It seems to me that applications that are known not to work properly
should not be on by default, unless that is really necessary
(which it is not here).

I see that the problem with recent addresses
is that they do not include the name of the recipient,
eg "Timothy Murphy <gayleard@xxxxxxxxxx> just becomes "gayleard@xxxxxxxxxx".
This seems to me bizarre, it would surely be simpler to save the To address?

My addressbook seems to have been emptied on going from CentOS-7.1 to 7.2,
so I don't know if using that would keep the personal name in place.
I shall find out soon.
