Most recent qt and kf5 update fixed my vpn problem and maybe a couple of others. I urge others to "hang in there" because these bugs are getting knocked over and there are always some workarounds you can employ. I was having to run "sudo /usr/bin/kde5-nm-connection-editor" to be able to connect so obviously some user auth issue but fixed now, thanks.
