The whole lifetime of KDE/Plasma 4 was the transitional phase!

But the problem is that the application developers are also dependent on the
toolkit developers, and there, the GTK+ developers stubbornly refuse to
natively support the Status Notifier Item (SNI) standard. You can use
libappindicator, but it is not a drop-in replacement for the GTK+ systray
classes, and the GTK+ developers don't recommend its use. (There may or may
not also be other issues with it.) Other non-Qt toolkits also don't support
SNI, usually because nobody bothered adding support for it

well, that means in summary the KDE developers have to suck that there is, at least for now, no place to enforce changes, suck and accept that

and given that ksystraycmd also is not available in KF5 there is *no zero excuse* fro that fallouts because the KDE upstream community was even not able to cleanup their own stuff and so have no business to tell the whole world how things have to be implemenetd while **it in their users faces
