KDE apps are well integrated, we don't ship Krita, Marble, probably lots of other apps, see:

I use KDE Plasma only for years, yet I use VLC, smplayer, Firefox, Chrome, Thunderbird, even Transmission-Qt.
General purpose OS should not be limited by a project's software, even with all the great stuff from KDE.
