I can't help you with this but it might help if you created a xorg.conf and set the video resolution. I *can* however help you with the terminal window position. Install xwininfo if it is not already installed. Open a terminal and drag it to where you want it to open. Run xwininfo as 'you' and click on the terminal when prompted. Put the line that starts with 'geometry' in the terminal configuration file in your home directory.
