What version of KDE are you using? I noticed that grouping was much
slower with 4.6 than with 4.5 - slow enough that you could see the
'grouping thread X of Y' status bar text changing. If more people are
seeing this worth reporting as a bug?

(Though kdepim seems in a bit of crisis at the moment...)
