It's still needed unless you use polkit-kde, which is not part of KDE 4.4 and which is being packaged separately (currently stuck under review, I'll have to nag jreznik and rdieter to speed up the process, we need this in Rawhide ASAP!). The trouble is, if we package it for F-12, people will expect it to actually get used, so we'd need to tweak things to change the default (needs small changes to kdebase-workspace and polkit-gnome ? for the latter, only a one-line change to a .desktop file affecting only KDE) and jreznik is unsure about whether that's a good idea for an update to a released Fedora.
