I am also seeing blank entries in "Multimedia" with both backends here on 
this F12 box, the only visible entry is PulseAudio Sound Server.

Hardware: Audigy SE

phonon-4.3.80-2.fc12.i686
pulseaudio-module-x11-0.9.21-1.fc12.2.rex.i686

Sound does work fine though.
