I've made a couple of small changes to it (small cleanup to the zlib patch, which I'm trying to push upstream, and made a note about the provenance of the two patches), and submitted the package to Bugzilla for review:

Because I'm not a current package maintainer, I'm in need of sponsorship, so this could take a while; if anyone wants to take a look, and possibly provide a second set of eyes for review in the meantime, I'd greatly appreciate it.

(And if anyone here is able and willing to sponsor a package, may I humbly suggest that bug #666311 may be right up your alley? *grin*)
