You can get tomcat4 as an rpm through JPackage. The tomcat4 rpm comes with the files already in init.d, so there is no need to mess around there. Simply download http://jpackage.org/jpackage.repo to /etc/yum.repos.d and use yum to install tomcat4. To start or stop a service on startup, use chkconfig.
