The unallocated space is because we can't predict if the user will need more space for containers, or more for other things (a Gluster storage partition, for example).  This means that, in the default case, the user can easily expand the partition where they run out of room. 

I cases where you know more about your users than we do in the "default" case, you don't necessarily need the unallocated space.
