Kernel 3.8 plans

Hi All,

Just thought I would ping the list about my current plans for kernel
3.8 in rawhide so people are aware of what's going on.

I'm breaking it down into a couple of phases to make the change less
of a problem (with luck):

1) phase 1 is basically a basic 3.7 -> 3.8 jump and will include the following:
* drop separate imx kernel. Currently doesn't support the previous HW
we supported with the imx kernel. It's now buildable as a unified
kernel
* deal with new kernel config options we need to actually build the config.

2) enable new platforms
* imx and other new SoCs supported in the unified kernel. This
includes sunxi (AllWinner A1x) but it'll likely not be usable
* tegra 3 in the -tegra kernel

3) tweak and stabilise

I'm well into phase 1 and we should have the first 3.8 kernel in a
similar time frame to mainline (in the next day or so).

Peter
